As a public institution, we must have high standards of stewardship with the resources we receive from our students, the State of Georgia and our generous donors. This effort of stewardship and sound financial operations is led by our team in the Office of Finance and Administration. We have extraordinary talent at GSU who continue to work behind the scenes with incredible dedication and integrity, and we are extremely fortunate to have Brad Freeman, VP and CFO, providing expert leadership over this critically important function.
Therefore, it is an honor to announce that Georgia State University has been recognized by the State of Georgia by receiving an Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting.
“An award of distinction is presented to organizations that submit quality financial statements and supporting documentation in a timely manner, whose annual financial report is given an unmodified audit opinion and is free of any significant deficiencies or material weaknesses, and comply with all Transparency in Government Act requirements.”
The award is representative of the collective work done by so many on our campuses. This is the second year in a row Georgia State has achieved this distinction, so please join me in celebrating this accomplishment. Go Panthers!
