With the fall semester classes beginning this week, it’s a good time to update your campus security communication information. As a reminder, everyone can call Campus Police at 404-413-3333 for campus safety and security issues. Everyone should have that number posted or saved at their work area or in their cell phone. Contacting GSU Police is the best course of action when a staff member or student has a concern for their safety or the safety of others. No matter how small or significant the concern is, our outstanding GSU Campus Security staff is available 24/7 to assist with our community’s safety. Please do not hesitate to contact Campus Police in any safety or security situation.
Here is your beginning of the year checklist:
- Add GSU Police to your cell phone: 404-413-3333. Remember: “See Something, Say Something.”
- Get the GSU Livesafe app here: GSU Livesafe. You can message GSU Police directly via the app.
- Sign up to receive emergency information via SMS and PANTHER ALERTS. If you have already signed up, log-on and confirm your information is correct.
- Scan a QR code on the GSU Blue Line and get familiar with this campus enhancement!
- Become familiar with GSU Safety Escort Services You can also request these services on the Livesafe App. (Another good reason to download the app!)
There are many safety and emergency situations that can affect our campus operations. Please access this link on our Campus Safety website to learn more about what to do an emergency: How to Respond to Emergencies and Threats at Georgia State University (gsu.edu).
All of us play a role in creating a great environment for world class teaching, research and campus life. Being proactive and working together we can accomplish this and so much more!
